⚑ Leverage

Leverage lets you open amplified positions on Polymarket outcomes using Dimes Multiply β€” a leveraged synthetics protocol built on prediction markets. Instead of buying a YES or NO share at face value, you post a fraction of the notional as collateral and multiply your exposure.

Open Leverage from the app header or go directly to Leverage.

How It Works

When you take a leveraged position you post collateral (USDC) against a notional larger than that collateral. A 5Γ— leverage position on a $0.50 YES outcome means $100 collateral controls a $500 notional exposure. Your PnL, liquidation price, and fees all scale with the notional.

Positions are managed by the Dimes protocol. Olympus handles the interface, wallet routing, and fee collection. The underlying position lives on-chain.

What Markets Are Available

The leverage market catalog shows all prediction markets currently accepting new positions. Markets are filtered into:

  • All β€” every available market
  • Crypto β€” crypto-outcome markets
  • Sports β€” live sports event markets

Markets open and close based on Dimes eligibility. If a market is not listed, it is not currently accepting new leveraged positions.

Step-By-Step: Opening A Position

Step 1 β€” Go to Leverage

Navigate to /app/leverage. The Browse markets tab shows all currently available markets.

Step 2 β€” Pick A Market

Browse the grid or use the category filter on the left (desktop) or top (mobile). Click a market card to open the trading panel for that market.

Step 3 β€” Choose A Side

Select YES or NO depending on your directional view on the outcome.

Step 4 β€” Set Your Leverage

Use the leverage slider to choose your multiplier. The available range depends on the market and current liquidity. Start low β€” higher leverage means a tighter liquidation price.

Step 5 β€” Enter Your Collateral

Type the collateral amount in USDC, or use the quick-amount buttons. The panel will show you:

  • the notional value at your chosen leverage
  • the estimated fee
  • the quote price before you confirm

Step 6 β€” Review The Quote

Check the live quote before confirming. The quote updates automatically. If the price moves beyond your slippage tolerance, the order will not execute β€” you can widen the slippage or wait for a better quote.

Step 7 β€” Confirm And Submit

Click Open position and approve the transaction in your wallet. Once the on-chain transaction confirms, the position appears in your My positions tab, on the Leverage page.

Step 8 β€” Monitor And Close

From My positions you can:

  • track your unrealized PnL
  • see your liquidation price
  • close the position at any time

When you close, proceeds (minus fees) are returned to your wallet balance.

Liquidation

If the market price moves against your position far enough, Dimes will liquidate the position to protect protocol solvency. The liquidation price is shown when you open and is visible in your positions table.

A few things to know:

  • liquidation happens automatically on-chain β€” you do not need to be watching
  • thin liquidity at extremes can cause liquidation before the displayed price in fast-moving markets
  • adding more collateral is not currently supported β€” size positions to leave room for price movement

Good Practices

  • start with small collateral to learn how leverage, quotes, and slippage behave
  • keep leverage low until you understand how quickly positions move
  • check the liquidation price every time before confirming
  • do not use money you cannot afford to lose β€” leveraged prediction markets amplify both gains and losses
  • close positions before market resolution if you want to exit rather than settle
